Installation

To install the device, perform the following steps:

  1. Connect the device with your computer through a serial cable directly and via the USB-A connector (for power supply only). The device will start up and the LED turns into red which means standby.

  2. Open the device manager of your computer. If the device appears and “COM” port is displayed, the connection was successful.

  3. Open the output of the computer software, such as the “Serial debug assistant”.

  4. Put tag on the top of the reader. The software will output data of the tag (card number). When reading the tag, the LED light changes from red to green. The device will automatically read every second.

Precautions

Note the following precautions:

  • Do not install the reader on magnetic or magnetic shielding objects and metal objects. They would affect the RF signal.

  • If the tag is still in the induction zone after reading, the RF reader will not send data and there will be no system information about this.

Troubleshooting

Note the following common setup problems and how to fix them:

Operation without feedback

Try the following steps to fix the issue:

  • Ensure that the interface is plugged in.

  • Check whether the tag is valid.

  • Ensure there’s no other RF tag within reading range.

Data error

Try the following steps to fix the issue:

  • Check whether the mouse has moved.

  • Check if the reader is in a critical state.

  • Check whether the cable length is too long.
